Uniqlos advertising and campaigns are very basic compared to H&M’s Recycling. It shows just how much social media is needed in order for something like this to become known to the public.
H&M partnered with the Hong Kong research Institute of textiles and apparel to develop technologies to recycle clothing, however even though they say they donate wearable clothing there is no further information about this.
On uniqlos website do say that they the other garments that cannot be donated would be recycled into fibres however there is no further information about recycling into industrial fibres.
The amount of global emissions produced within the fashion industry is equivalent to more than 250 billion miles driven by the average car, enough to drive to the sun and back more than 1,000 times.
With Uniqlo donating 16.32 million items 10 59 countries and regions – the transportation is a very important part of this organisation, which has a significant part in supporting the carbon emmissions.
